EKIMOVSKIY Georgiy A. was born in August 7, 1981 in Moscow. In 1998 he graduated from the experimental high school № 315 – medical-biological class at the I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy (First Moscow State Medical University). In 1998 he joined the medical faculty at the I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy, and in 2005 graduated as M.D. with specialty “General Medicine”. In 2007 he graduated from the clinical residency with specialization “Internal Diseases (Therapy)” at the Research Institute of Nutrition of the Russian academy of medical sciences, and also graduated from the clinical residency with specialization “Dietetics” at the “Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education” at the clinical base of the Research Institute of Nutrition. In 2007 he completed training on gastroenterology at the Training Center of Central Clinical Hospital.
Since 2008 he has been working in the SSC RF – IBMP RAS as a senior specialist of the clinical department. In 2009-2011 he carried out a project for opening and operation of the medical center of the SSC RF – IBMP RAS Clinical Department at the Academy of National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation. From 2009 to now Ekimovskiy G.A. leads in the clinical areas of work in the laboratory of Vestibular Physiology, department of Sensorimotor Physiology and Prophylaxis at the SSC RF – IBMP RAS. He is involved in all aspects of the laboratory’ work, including the preparation of pre- and postflight examinations of cosmonauts (Russian crewmembers of the prolonged expeditions onboard the ISS), participates in preparation of space onboard and ground model experiments. Priority science activities of Ekimovskiy G.A. are studies of the vestibular physiology: examination/survey, diagnostics and differential diagnosis of vestibulopathies of various genesis in patients complained of systemic vertigo and non-systemic dizziness and equilibrium disturbances, using the modern innovative diagnostic equipment – hardware-software complex “OCULOSTIM-CM”.
He is currently working on the Cand.Med.Sci. thesis on the topic “Computerized methods of objectification of vertigo/dizziness and differentiation of vestibulopathies”, in specialty “Aviation, Space and Sea Medicine”.
The objectives of the research are:
- definition of diagnostic criteria for the computerized differential diagnosis of systemic (vestibular) vertigo and non-systemic dizziness and balance disorders;
- determination of classification (discriminant) functions, specific for clinically different types (organic and functional) of disorders of the vestibular function;
- creation of the complex computerized method for objectification of vertigo/dizziness and the state of the vestibular system in separate individuals, based on the hardware-software complex “OCULOSTIM-CM” without using additional clinical-instrumental tools for survey.
Within the laboratory research topics and grants of the Russian academy of sciences Ekimovskiy G.A. is actively involved in the development and creation of the non-pharmacological (computerized) method of therapy, correction and prevention of adverse sensorimotor (vertigo, dizziness and balance disorders), perceptual and autonomic responses through the development of the fixation reflex with both separated and combined optokinetic and vestibular stimulation using biofeedback (Kornilova L.N. et al., Russian Federation patent #2301622, dated 06/27/2007). He actively participates in the work of the laboratory for the development and creation of new methodologies and software to study the accuracy of visual-manual tracking using a tablet PC with a touch screen.
Ekimovskiy G.A. has more than 25 scientific publications on therapy, dietetics, vestibular physiology, aviation and space medicine.
He is a lieutenant of medical service reserve.
In 2013 Ekimovskiy G.A. graduated from the President’s program of management training, graduation work was awarded a diploma “For the best innovative project of the graduates”.
He is currently enrolled in the program of training for private pilots.
