Laboratory of Vestibular Physiology is a part of Department of Sensorimotor physiology and prophylaxis (head of department – Cand.Biol.Sci. Tomilovskaya E.S., scientific supervisor – сorresponding member of the Russian academy of sciences, Dr.Med.Sci., Prof. Kozlovskaya I.B.) of the State scientific center of the Russian Federation – Institute of BioMedical Problems of the Russian academy of sciences (director of the Institute – academician of the Russian academy of sciences, Dr.Med.Sci., Prof. Orlov O.I.).
Laboratory of Vestibular Physiology (scientific supervisor – Dr.Med.Sci., Prof. Kornilova L.N.) was created:
- to study neurosensory mechanisms of the space adaptation and readaptation syndrome (space motion sickness);
- to study the vestibular function, intersensory interactions, visual and visual-manual tracking in complex dynamic and visual conditions causing disorientation and illusion of spatial position;
- to study forms and types of vertigo/dizziness of various origin;
- to develop nonpharmacological methods of therapy, correction and prevention of vertigo, dizziness and other vestibular disorders.
